Who am I?
I am a labor lawyer and hands-on human resources professional/executive. I worked in these fields for four decades. I coached entry-level and middle managers at a number of Fortune 1000 companies during the course of my career and in recent years, intensively. What became clear from the feedback I received during these sessions is that this is an “underserved market.” The intent of “Coaching with Mike” is to provide a targeted resource for management to assist high-potential, entry and middle managers successfully navigate the path from individual contributor to manager and from middle manager to executive.
Since establishing mikethecoach.org in 2013 I have had the privilege of intensively coaching four leadership teams at plant level. Two of these teams had significant labor relations issues. Based on these experiences and a lifetime of participating on leadership teams, I believe that what is said above regarding individual managers goes doubly for leadership teams at the operational level.
In addition to the above, I have deep experience in gaining the trust of combative and often adversarial parties. Once trust is established the outcomes often surprises the parties in ways they could not heretofore be imagined. As such, I offer mediation services for otherwise intractable issues.
